Addicted to Addicts: Survival 101 – Cautious Optimism and Hope

We who love addicts and alcoholics experience lots of ups and downs, hopes and disappointments, and, yes, crashes. We try to cling on to the saying “where there is life, there’s hope”. Well, today’s show is a good example of this possibility. We will be talking to a young man who somehow extracted himself from a 9 year drug addiction and dealer life to somewhere even the most positive person might not even imagine.
Dr. Adi Jaffe is a UCLA trained psychologist, specializing in addiction. Before he got involved in addiction research at UCLA, he was a drug dealer and meth addict. Besides his research, Dr. Jaffe writes for his All About Addiction Blog and for Psychology Today Magazine.
