A Fresh Start – “I WANT TO END MY LIFE”; A TIME OF EMOTIONAL HONESTY

If someone asked you just to be there when they wanted to end their life, would you be there or not? How do we react to decisions of those we love? Should assisted suicide be legal and is it even ethical? There are many people out there going through similar situations with parents at the end of their life. The babyboomers are the sandwich generation and we will, if not already, caring for our aging parents. For Zoe Carter and her siblings, her mother was dealing with a long illness…Parkinson’s. It was her mother’s wish to have her family by her side as SHE administered to herself the medication needed. Zoe FitzGerald Carter shares her emotional story about a mother she loved and lost. Her book, Imperfect Endings, focuses on humor and emotional honesty and in reading it you will experience a tribute to a lovely woman who made a brave choice.

The book is not just a bleak story of grief and loss, there is humor mixed in as well. Death is part of life. Zoe is an author and journalist and graduate of Columbia Journalism School. She has written for a number of national publications, including The New York Times, Salon, and Vogue. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband and two daughters.
