Bobblehead Dad – Our Kids. Alcohol. And Drugs. Part One

This is an important show for every parent.  Host Jim Higley joined by Jeff Wolfsberg, one of the most influential drug and alcohol educators and speakers regarding teens and substance abuse. Jeff works globally with high schools and colleges sharing his expertise, advice and wisdom on this critically important topic. He’s a familiar guest and authority on The Today Show, The View, and Fox news. He’s also written countless articles appearing in publications including Time Magazine and The Boston Globe.  And he has valuable information for you about protecting your children from drug and alcohol use!

“We are at a thirty year high of teenage drug and alcohol use,” according to Wolfsberg who provides not only further astounding facts but also important strategies that all parents must adapt for supporting their children. “When a teen figures out they can alter their consciousness through a chemical–a beer, weed, or a pill–it’s a remarkable thing.” Remarkable and extremely dangerous.  Could your adolescent or teen be experimenting in this arena…?  They might be!

Wolfsberg talks extensively about cultural issues–especially our tendency to avoid suffering–and how that collective “cultural” attitude influences all of our attitudes towards alcohol and drugs. Throughout the show, Wolfsberg draws incredible links for all parents to understand that the road to a healthy relationship with alcohol goes far beyond a few discussions and well-established rules.  (Raise your hand if you ever broke one of your parent’s rules as a kid!)

This is part one of a two part series of shows providing critical information every parent should understand about raising children free of the harms associated with underage drinking and drug use.  Listen in!  We promise you’ll walk away feeling more knowledgeable and more comfortable in your role in your child’s life than ever before!  (And don’t forget to tune in next week for our thrilling conclusion!)
