“On behalf of the President of the United States and the people of a grateful nation” are the words that accompany the presentation of a folded American Flag…given to the family of a military member whose life and service paid for the freedoms we enjoy today.
The sound of TAPS bids a final farewell. On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember the men and women who paid for the price of our freedom. A garden of stone, Arlington National Cemetery ( www.arlingtoncemetery.mil) stands in tribute to the lives of our military service men and women and the families who waited until they came home. Each stone represents a story, a life, a voice now silenced by death, but whose life is remembered by a nation. Join me as we tour this final resting place for those who served our country. Deputy Superintendent Jack Lechner Jr. will share his love for this sacred place.
I wish to thank Doug Konop with assistance of the bugle call TAPS.
