Dr. Mayer’s guests all work on the front lines of emergency cases involving teens and their families in crises. Two of his guests are police officers: Det. Joe Gentile, Chicago Police Department Special Victims Unit and Sgt. Rich Witney who also holds a degree in social work. Along with these officers is Kevin Owens an adolescent therapist who has worked in the ER’s and hospitals serving youth in crisis. Dramatic incidents of teens in emergencies are shared and what families can do. The guests all agree that a great resource is the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill-NAMI.
