Hope, Healing and WellBeing – 100 Perks of Having Cancer with Florence Strang and Susan Gonzalez

Florence Strang is a Registered Psychologist and breast cancer survivor. As a motivational speaker, she has made her audiences laugh and made them cry, as she shares her message of how a Survivor’s Attitude helped in her recovery from cancer. Susan Gonzalez is a Registered Nurse, breast cancer survivor, and is certified in plant-based nutrition. She is also the creator of MOON Organics a natural skincare company. In working with her patients, Susan learned that the daily lifestyle choices of the patient far outweigh any treatments given by the doctor or nurse.

Florence and Susan are co-authors of a new book, 100 Perks of Having Cancer plus 100 Health Tips for Surviving It. After discussing how they met by posting comments on each other’s blogs, Perks of Cancer (Flo’s) and Savvy Sister (Susan’s), they describe the controversy of talking about “perks” in relation to cancer. It becomes quickly apparent that looking for the “perks” enabled them to discover the positive dimensions of the cancer journey, including the importance of being hopeful, not just about recovery, but in life. Flo discusses the importance of having a “Survivor’s Attitude” as not just having a positive attitude but incorporating positive behaviors. Susan then shares ideas for some of the many things we can do prevent cancer from occurring or reoccurring. Both women also discuss their new online program, Cancer Plan for Life, which is explained on their website:
