Teens today aren’t like they were in the lighthearted John Hughes movies of the 80’s. Technology has changed. The speed of time has changed. Society has changed. Pornography is no longer a magazine or a VHS tape hidden in the parent’s closet. Blood and guts are no longer deemed inappropriate for children’s eyes. And bullying is no longer a prank call or a shove in the hallway.
Even if you remember what it was like to be a teenager, it doesn’t matter—being a teen doesn’t mean the same thing as it did when you were one. That poses a bit of a challenge for us parents, wouldn’t you say? That’s what we’re talking about this week on Goddess—surviving teen-hood! My expert guest this week is Michele Sfakianos, life skills expert, speaker and author of the book, “The 4-1-1 on Surviving Teenhood.” Michele talks about the dangers our teens are facing and what us parents can do about it.
