About Our Guest – Pam Lontos is President of Pam Lontos Consulting, a company that consults with businesses, experts, speakers, and authors in the areas of sales, marketing, publicity, and speaking. She is author of the popular books I See Your Name Everywhere: Leverage the Power of the Media to Grow Your Fame, Wealth and Success and Don’t Tell Me It’s Impossible Until After I’ve Already Done It.
Pam’s sales career began when she was 15 years old and selling on straight commission. She has sold retail, health club memberships and radio advertising time. Pam made her mark in the radio industry first as a top salesperson, then as sales manager of KMGC in Dallas, where she doubled sales in one month after a 50% decrease in ratings. She went on to raise sales 500% in one year (and kept it there). She then became Vice President of Sales for Disney’s Shamrock Broadcasting. Pam then spent over 20 years as one of the top sales, management and motivational speakers in the country. Pam then founded PR/PR Public Relations. She is the author of the mp3 sales course Guerrilla Tactics for Streetwise Selling and Reprogram Yourself For Success in 30 Days.
Pam has been featured on CNN, in the New York Times, Entrepreneur, Inc. Magazine and Cosmopolitan, has had articles published in over 500 magazines, and has appeared on programs with Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins, Tom Peters, and Brian Tracy. Pam was co-host of her own TV show, A Whole New You on the Lifetime Network.
About Business – Pam Lontos is a consultant to entrepreneurs, speakers and authors in the areas of marketing and publicity. On the phone or in person, she shows her clients how to write a killer marketing letter, ads that get results and how to talk to clients to make more sales. In the area of publicity, she explains to her clients how to get articles in magazines and how to get interviewed on TV, radio and in newspapers.
Most importantly, in the last few months, Pam has written and released her song, Love is a Magnet which has been nominated for Best Music Video by the Positive Music Festival and in on Nightingale-Conant’s Website. Troy Horne performs the song. Pam has done this with no musical background, which shows that you can do anything you want at any time.
Most Memorable Business Failure – Starting a business and picking people who were right brained and creative like me. It was much more fun and I felt comfortable with all the employees. Unfortunately, no one was keeping records, checks weren’t getting sent, deposits weren’t being made and things became disorganized fast. I felt very overwhelmed by everything. What I learned was you need to not only hire employees similar to yourself but more important hire people who are strong in areas where you are weak so the business runs smoothly and makes a profit.
Ah-Ha Moment – I became frustrated by the rules of the corporate world, which had a lot of focus on systems and processes. These seemed to only delay sales and were unimportant to the running of a business. Also, these processes often didn’t take into account a person’s strengths and put them in jobs that didn’t suit their talents.
