Remember when you were a child? You were building something or riding your bike and you called out, “Mom! Mom! Look! Mom!” over and over. Do you remember that feeling of satisfaction and calm when she looked your way? The sense of urgency was soothed. The acknowledgment made you feel full. In that moment, all your needs were met.
As adults, it would be inappropriate to shout for attention in the work place or with your peers, but that does not mean you have outgrown the innate need to be seen and heard. So, what can you do to satiate that sense of yearning, and why does this feel so imperative to your existence?
