Biography

Not Me! Empowering Women and Saving Lives with Al Horner

Al Horner became a teacher quite by accident. The former Navy SEAL officer enjoyed many successful years in corporate America as an international and commercial banker and as President of several companies. In 2005, a close friend asked if Horner could teach his daughter self-defense skills before she left home to attend college. He happily obliged. Three weeks later, she had to use them.

As Horner reflected on this and other similar events, he realized that a genuine need existed; women lacked the vital knowledge necessary to protect themselves in dangerous situations. Shortly thereafter, the “Not Me!” concept was born.

Since its inception, Not Me! has grown to be a wildly popular training program reaching schools, companies and women’s groups all over the Twin Cities. The program has helped prevent pain and saved women’s’ lives.
