Biography

Urban Film Radio with Gary Hughes

Gary C. Hughes is on a mission to change how we perceive people of size, one movie at a time. Along with a co-founder, Mr. Hughes created Plus Size Productions (PSP), a full service media company, with a primary goal of portraying people of size in roles and situations relevant to us all. By doing this, Mr. Hughes explains, we can learn to be a bit more tolerant and understanding of one another through movies, television and radio productions.

Mr. Hughes has written and produced three movies, of which the movie entitled When the Shoes On the Other Foot won third place for best short film in the Cine Noir Film Festival in Wilmington, North Carolina, March, 2009. Other accomplishments range from hosting a live open mic poetry series in Richmond, Virginia to hosting/producing Various Arts 2002, a weekly showcase highlighting regional talent in all areas of the arts, reaching an audience of approximately 500,000 in the Central Virginia area on the Public Access Station.

Also he directed and produced Scavenger Hunt, a short done for the 48 hour film festival in Richmond, VA July 2010. Other projects include completion of “Ambition” The series, and PSPs fourth script, Love Changes, romantic drama, slated for production in fall 2011. With his weekly internet radio show “Urban Film Radio” and more ideas on the horizon Mr. Hughes has set a goal to make his brand a viable one in the independent film market
