Substance abuse is considered a major societal problem in both the general population and in the LGBT community. What makes the difference between someone who drinks occasionally compared to someone who has become dependent? When does use become abuse? How are gays affected by substance use and limited in their ability to seek help? The Pride Institute specializes in providing residential and outpatient treatment programs for members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in a safe and LBGT accepting environment. Your host, Jim Duke, talks with Todd Connaughty, Pride Institute’s Director of Clinical Services about substance abuse, recent trends in identifying needs and the opportunities for treatment.
