Hugo, the Loveable, Huggable Oranguatan by Doris McKenzie
Hugo, the Loveable, Huggable Orangutan is a story about an orangutan who lives in a zoo. Hugo is a comfort to the zookeeper and all the other animals because of his loveable hugs.
When a child named Tommy visits the zoo, he gives Hugo his peanut butter sandwich. Hugo loves peanuts and decides he must have more peanut sandwiches, so he follows Tommy home. Tommy takes Hugo to school with him. Soon all the children discover that Hugo makes their troubles disappear with his loveable hugs.
When the zookeeper appears on television with a tearful plea for Hugo’s return, Tommy and all his classmates realize what they must do: bring Hugo back home.*All proceeds from the sale of HUGO, the Lovable, Huggable Orangutan books will be donated by the author to charities for the blind.
