Join me in this podcast. Allow me to guide you in a mindful practice to recognize within yourself calmness and how to use that calmness as an anchor when unexpected events occur. Think of an emergency or an unexpected occurrence. You may have taken classes or training to learn how to handle surges of unforeseen circumstances or emergencies. And you may have had to repeat the activity yearly so that your skills are sharp and you respond quickly and appropriately to the sudden change of events. The training aims to help participants recognize situations and prepare them to react calmly and efficiently. The same goal applies to learning to use your breath as an anchor during difficult situations.
During our session today, we will practice recognizing the eye of the hurricane and paying attention to the calmness of the hurricane’s center. Then we will use that imagery and link it to the practice of keeping the picture of the eye in our mind. The eye of the hurricane is our center; it is our anchor to concentrate on the breath. The breath is our anchor to calmness. With the breath as our anchor in the center of a stormy situation, we will be able to see difficult situations from a new perspective and not allow ourselves to become the hurricane.
