I will be your guide in this practice activity. Did you know that we perform mindfulness practices with focus during everyday activities? Join me in a brief mindful eating review. I highlight how we naturally block out distracting thoughts in our daily lives. Also, I share a method I recently learned from Gina Biegel, MA LMFT, owner and consultant of the “Stress Teens Program.” This practice is called “Railroad Activity.” Before you begin the practice, I invite you to get into a comfortable position. You can lie down or sit down, whatever is comfortable for you. This is also an imagery practice. The goal is to increase focus on the breath as an anchor. Be aware of the movements of your body with your breath. Notice any changes in temperature as you breathe in your nose and out of your mouth. Let your breath be natural. Understand as you practice, distracting thoughts may come into your mind. Realize it is normal for distracting thoughts to come and go. Enjoy your practice.
