- From Military to Mainstream – Major Dream : From Immigrant Housemaid to Army Private to Army Major to Harvard Ph.D.
Dr. Jin Kyu (Suh) Robertson was born and raised in Korea. She found a way to get her high school diploma, worked as a factory girl in a wig factory, waitress at a golf club, and a housemaid. At age 22, she immigrated to America to become a housemaid (a position she found through a Korean newspaper ad) with practically no English and had only one-way ticket and $100 to her name. At the age of 28, Jin, a mother of eight months old baby-girl, joined the U.S. Army as a private to escape from domestic violence. She retired as a U.S. Army major, received her MA (at the age of 43) and her Ph.D. (at the age of 57) both from Harvard. This single mother raised her daughter, an Army Brat, to be selected as a Presidential Scholar (an honor given to only 141 of 2.5 million high school graduating seniors), graduate from Harvard, become a U.S. Army officer and receive a master’s degree from Princeton. Korean major TV’s made documentaries of her American dream story that inspired and motivated millions of Koreans, a number of which were saved from the verge of suicides. She is Korea’s most popular inspirational/ motivational speaker (over 800 speeches), and a bestselling author of the books chronicling her amazing story that has sold more than a half million copies. You can learn more about Dr. Robertson by visiting Harvard.blogspot.com. Her book was one I could not put down until I finished it. If you’re going to fail, why drag it out? Recognize it, admit it, lick your wounds, and move onto your next venture.”
Rich Christiansen has started 33 businesses. Eleven were miserable failures, but eleven others grew into multimillion-dollar successes. This experience and his passion for business provided Rich with the material for The Zig Zag Principle. Which he share with you during this interview.
