Almost immediately, parents have to make an important medical decision for their children. Do they agree to start their babies on a vaccination schedule? The Center for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, and The American Academy of Pediatrics are all strongly in favor of vaccination. Yet, an increasing number of parents refuse this option. Why is that? Is there really a legitimate risk of injury from these vaccines? Or are those parents taking a bigger risk with the health of their children by denying them the protection of vaccines?
On this important show, I talk with two parents with opposite viewpoints. Stacy Herlihy is a journalist and writer who has co-authored the book, Your Baby’s Best Shot: Why Vaccines Are Safe And Save Lives. Markus Heinze is a teacher who believes his daughter’s Type 1 diabetes was caused by her vaccines. He has self-published a book about his quest for information concerning vaccines called Vacceptable Injuries.
I encourage you to listen to the show, do some of your own research and thinking, and then join me in a discussion of the issue at the Parenting With Playdate Planet Blog. I look forward to hearing what you think and whether this show made an impact on your opinion.
