In November 2012 Denise featured a documentary on this show called “Behind the Orange Curtain”. This movie documented the prescription drug epidemic and it’s repercussions in Orange County California, especially among the young people. This week’s show features another documentary that takes place in a small town called Oceana, West Virginia. Listen to Denise discuss with the director of this documentary, Sean Dunne, about what is going on in this area and how the combination, really of these two populations and/or these and all in between, encompasses every town and city in America. The documentary is called “Oxyana”, a nickname given to this town because of this epidemic that has taken over its inhabitants and everything they once knew to be true. The documentary won the Best New Documentary Director at this summer’s Tribeca Film Festival.
Listen, check out these documentaries, think about what is going on where you live. Is there prescription drug abuse and addiction? Can this be your town or city?
