In this program, Dr. Porter counters that opinion with a frank discussion of the many factors which led not only to the events in Tuscon but have led to many similar events in our recent history. It is our inability to acknowledge both personal and societal pathologies, he concludes, which makes it likely that tragedies like the Tuscon massacre will continue in our democracy.
