This week, The Accidental Guru, Dov Baron, interviews Lieutenant Colonel Rob ‘Waldo’ Waldman, also known as “The Wingman.”  Waldman is a professional leadership speaker and author of the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller Never Fly Solo.  Waldman talks about building trusting, revenue-producing relationships with your employees, partners, and customers; as well as how to face your own fears.  Who better to teach these important lessons than someone who is not only a successful businessman, but a decorated combat fighter pilot!

Waldman reveals how he overcame massive claustrophobia and a fear of heights to become a fighter pilot and shares what he believes to be the key to building a culture of trust: Your Wingmen.  But who are these Wingmen?  The men and women in your life who help you to overcome obstacles, adapt to change, and achieve success.  In business and in life, you should never fly solo!  What is the solution to winning when the heat is on?  How can the various “Wingmen” in your life help you on your life’s mission?

Waldman talks about the importance of allowing oneself to be vulnerable.  “Being vulnerable does not mean you…approach your Wingman with every problem that you have,” says Waldman, explaining that a good Wingman will not stand for this kind of behavior.  Look for a Wingman who will ask you questions and try to help you help yourself.  “A Wingman is not a babysitter,” concurs Baron.  But how do you find someone to be your Wingman?  What qualities should you be looking for?

Learn how to “Push It Up,” commit yourself, and execute your game plan to its fullest potential.  Take action! “Are you ready to take action when there’s an enemy on your nose and that you may lose?” asks Waldman, harkening back to his fighter pilot days.  When you’re pushed to your limit, your true character shines through.  Learn how to live your life at full throttle today!
