I caught up with Head Baseball Coach, George Horton, two days before his 5th national seed Oregon Duck team host its 1st ever regional tournament. We discussed how to make an effective transition from regular to post-season play. Tune it to hear how a 35 year master coach has done it. A few highlights of Coach Horton’s career include: twice National Coach of the Year, 2004 National Championship with Cal State Fullerton, after 28 years without a baseball, in four years taking Oregon to a Regional host and 2nd post-season appearance, 2nd best turnaround in DI baseball recorded history (14-42 in ’09 to 40-24 in ’10), .67 winning % (in top 20 of active DI coaches). 17 former players under Coach Horton’s leadership have played in the Major Leagues. In the 2nd part of this show, Jim Meier, switches from host to sports psychology coach to sharpen your saw for better understanding Concentration in Sports. This includes clarifying four categories of concentration required for different sport, main concentration challenges and strategies to overcome them.
