Dr. Beth’s (www.drbetherickson.com) first guest was Patricia Harman, whose first novel is The Midwife of Hope River. Set in 1930s Appalachia, it is the story of a single, independent woman who faces all manner of challenges in order to be there for mothers who are about to deliver. Her main character is strong and strong willed. The second segment is a replay of one of Dr. Beth’s favorites from the past. In it, she spoke with Dr. Denise Hines (www.clarku.edu/faculty/dhines) about her research related to men who are victims of spousal aggression. Many people believe that it is only women who are, but Dr. Hines’ research challenges that misconception.
