“I am so mad … I can feel this wave of anger just washing over me and I don’t even know why… and then I get sad and sometimes I’m mad and sad at the same time”… Have you ever felt that way…mad and sad at the same time? These are feelings that most of the grieving world have experienced, probably more than once. We’ll be talking about anger today and trying to understand what role anger plays in our journey through grief. Am I frustrated, helpless, sad, tired or just plain angry?

My guest is Dr. Gary Hankins, a psychologist and educator who is a nationally known expert on anger and anger management. Dr. Gary is the author of Prescription for Anger with his wife, Carol, and Understanding Anger During Bereavement with Bob Baugher.

We’ll be trying to figure out the ins and outs of the anger that often are a part of the grieving process and learn some ways to relieve those angry feelings. We’ll also be sharing a new feature of our show, “Dumb Things That People Have Said to the Bereaved” so we can moan and groan together. And then we’ll share some helpful words as well.

Visit me, Darcie D. Sims, your host, at [email protected] or www.griefinc.com or visit Good Mourning on Face Book. Stop by and explore the angry part of grief. Talk to you soon. Thanks for the little while.
