Your body is totally amazing and, believe it or not, so is your brain!

You have tremendous healing abilities inside your body and your brain, and you can heal from and recover from some of the most horrendous injuries and illnesses – including Mild Traumatic Bain Injuries!
.
More people than you might imagine have suffered from MBTIs. You might have suffered an MTBI and you didn’t even know it.

MTBI is usually caused by a fall, an automobile accident; they can occur from a sports related accident or be a blast injury from an explosion. Sometimes people who have suffered an injury that resulted in MTBI may seem just fine on the surface, yet he or she will continue to endure chronic functional problems and not have a clue what in the world is going on. Some people know immediately that something serious has happened.

This episode of Just Between Us is going to focus on ways to support MTBI survivors and explore real tips for healing and lots of suggestions for treatment options.

My guest in this episode is Laura Whittemore, MTBI Survivor and Thriver, and the co-author of Recovering from Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI): A Handbook of Hope for Our Military Warriors and Their Families; and Understanding Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI): An Insightful Guide to Symptoms, Treatments and Redefining Recovery.

Laura has been in the field of psychology, education and been an entrepreneur for more than 30 years. She sustained a Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI) in 2001, caused by a horseback riding accident. Fortunately, she was wearing a helmet. Since this life-changing injury, she teamed up with her cognitive therapist, Mary Ann Keatley, PhD to co-author two books to help readers recognize the symptoms and learn about the treatment options. They are also the founders of the Brain Injury Hope Foundation.

This is an inspiring episode that includes lots of solid information from an expert who has been there. Laura’s message is a message of hope. With all the medical advances related to the neuroplascity of the brain new pathways to memory cells can be created, and recovery from MTBI is more possible than ever before. Be sure to listen in to this episode. It is so worth your time!
