A long time ago, there was nothing to hold on to when a loved one died. No support groups to attend, no books to read, no radio shows to listen to. People were afraid to speak of the deceased. The silence was very, very loud. So when my guest today found herself in that empty silence following the death of her daughter, she did not retreat to the couch. Instead, she jumped off the cliff without benefit of a parachute and not only landed on her feet, but on the way back to Mother Earth, she helped to create a national support group, two magazines for the bereaved and so much more.
The founder of Bereavement Magazine and the editor of Grief Digest, this grieving mom and widow helped change the face of grief support in the United States. You can find information about Grief Digest Magazine at www.centering.org or www.griefdigestmagazine.com.
