Hope, Healing and WellBeing – What’s Color Got to Do with It? with Jeannette Chasworth

The colors that surround us can affect our health, mood and overall wellbeing. Jeannette Chasworth strongly believes that when you change the surroundings in your home, your life will be transformed allowing you to heal your past and step into your future with the solid foundation of a home that flourishes around you. is an interior designed explains what it means to be “hugged by your home.” She discusses her personal journey of becoming a designer, beginning with growing up with a mother who loved to move furnishings around in their family home. Her book, What’s Color Got to Do With It? discusses many aspects of specific colors, like the color pink causes people to crave sweets. Red and orange enhance the taste of food. Restaurants often select colors that can motivate customers to leave quickly, in a fast food restaurants, or settled in and stay a while in a coffee shop.

Regarding home design, color can drain or enhance the energy of a room, causing people to feel restless or relaxed. Jeannette gives her clients a personality test to determine what colors fit for them based on their ‘season’. She shares examples of the impact of changing colors. Healing colors include blue, a more physically healing color, and green, for mental healing. Most people having a strong preference for one or the other.

She explains the concept of being “hugged by your home,” a phrase one of her clients used after Jeannette changed the colors in the woman’s home. Homes also have “personality” including the size and age of the home, which are important to consider when choosing colors.
