When our thyroid is weakened, it can set off a whole series of imbalances. Aside from leading to weight gain, other symptoms can include foggy brain or memory, feeling down for no reason, or chronic fatigue.

The thyroid produces hormones that are responsible for our metabolic processes. This means it is the root of many different chemical reactions that need to happen properly so we can have great health. Sadly, an under performing thyroid can often go overlooked as a factor in poor health.

This week we talk with Kimberly Ruzicka, Certified Nutritionist Therapy Practitioner, from Natural Grocers, a health food chain in the western U.S. Ten years ago Kimberly was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease of the thyroid, and now helps others be free of those unpleasant symptoms caused by a weak thyroid with diet and lifestyle guidance.

Tune in to learn how to determine if low thyroid function might be contributing to otherwise unexplained symptoms. Of course you will also hear great food ideas to help keep your thyroid strong and healthy. For more healthy eating ideas visit Chef Tom’s blog, The Confidence Diet.
