This heartwarming tale of how one friend helps another find their inner light and purpose will touch both children and adults alike!
Randy (short for Randle) is a misfit candle made in a factory in Paris, the City of Lights. Because he doesn’t look like the other candles in his batch, he is labeled “imperfect” and placed on a shelf all alone.
While cleaning out the back room, Luken, a factory worker, sees Randy and decides to take him home. It is here where a special friendship forms between Randy and Candy, a beautiful red-and-white-striped holiday candle.
Randy and Candy quickly become best friends, spending hours talking about their hopes and dreams. Randy is sad and afraid that no one will ever give him a chance to share his light. Candy encourages him and says, “Don’t be sad, Randy! You’re a special candle, and soon everyone will see your light shine!” They both promise to be there for each other no matter what happens.
See how Randy finally finds his purpose and gets a chance to shine and save the family from a horrendous storm! Through this touching story, the author gives powerful testimony to the importance of teaching children the power of friendship, compassion, empathy, acceptance, and resilience.
The author dedicates this book to all children, who are special and beautiful in their own uniqueness. Each of us has a light that shines deep within. The moment we find that light and the ability to share it with others we feel a sense of connection and belonging. As grownups it’s easy to forget that we too were once young children, longing to be seen, loved, and heard. It is a longing that we never grow out of, one that is not age specific, but one of human necessity. Encouraging and helping our children on their journey to find their own inner light and talents will assist them in finding their voice and ultimately, their purpose.
