The title of the cookbook is a tribute to the author’s daughter whose nickname is Mish, short for Michelle, hence MEALS WITH MISH! You can find the book on Facebook!
The cookbook is “kid friendly” in two ways: cooking FOR kids and cooking WITH kids. This is a collection of family recipes collected and preserved by the author. She used and modified each recipe with her daughter Michele as they shared time together in the kitchen cooking.
De Angelo made each meal special by inviting family members, usually cousins, or Mish’s friends for meals. She encouraged the kids to have a hands-on approach in preparing the recipes. By creating this can-do atmosphere, the author not only made wonderful memories for the participants, but also increased the kids self-esteem because they were actually cooking.
This is more than just a book filled with recipes. Parents who homeschool their children could add a “Cooking Class” to their curriculum in which the children get involved by measuring ingredients (using math skills) or combining the ingredients for the recipe (using science, if you combine this with that what happens?). Parents could let the kids choose the menu and prepare it, with supervision of course! The possibilities are endless and so are the wonderful memories.
The big plus is that the recipes are not only healthy and easy, but also DELICIOUS! There are seven different chapters, and each will contain at least one recipe that will become a family favorite. Note the clever titles of each recipe.
