Life as a parent, especially a first time parent, is not easy! In this handy, pocket sized book, the author combines her years of experience with Montessori teaching strategies with the knowledge gained over the years as a parent. She believes that her own children were her best teachers. They were the reason she became a Montessori teacher.
The book is intended to be used as a guide for parents and grandparents. The chapters are not intended to be read sequentially. Whenever time permits a chapter can be read over a cup of tea or coffee.
The topics for each chapter were chosen based on questions asked by every new parent. Topics include: Learning the language; The word “No”; Consistency; Obedience; Discipline; Tantrums; Routines; Manners; Sharing; Paying Attention; and so much more. Each chapter contains an explanation of the concept, what it is, how it is useful, and how to implement it using scenarios and stories. All of the examples and vignettes are fromreal life and based on nearly 30 years of observations and interactions with the very young. At the end of each chapter is a bullet point summary of the main points from the chapter.
