In the second exploration of Consciousness, Dr. Mercy discusses some of the impediments to spiritual growth and enlightenment and the myths about Consciousness that we accept as true. The ego, identification with roles and statuses, learned behavior, clinging to thoughts and belief systems all interfere at times with full realization of spiritual truth. Our views of God and the world also determine our states of Consciousness and the way we experience truth. We may believe for instance that we are helpless victims of a vengeful God or we may believe that God pervades all Beings and we are All One. These views set an emotional tone and energetic resonance for our Consciousness and ultimately effect our apprehension of what is Real.
