Bullying is an epidemic that seems to be on the rise in the past decade. In the United States alone, statistics show that suicide rate amongst teenagers aged 15 to 19 has increased exponentially, with GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) pre-teens three times more likely to commit suicide.
The reality is, bullying is a phenomenon that will not be eradicated completely anytime soon. So it’s up to parents to equip their children to be able to deal with bullying if and when it happens to them.
In this week’s show, Today’s Parents speaks with bully expert and a regular on the award winning segment Bully Buster, Joe Wojcik. Hear Joe’s story as he shares how being bullied as a child affected him into his adulthood and why educating children about bullying is extremely important.
Be ready with a pen and a notepad on hand because Joe will be sharing valuable information on:
• Effects of bullying on children;
• What counts as bullying;
• How to recognize signs that your child may be a target of bullies;
• How to bully-proof your kids; and
• What not to do to avoid turning your kids into bullies.
