Derek and Carolyn begin this show with recollections of beautiful gardens that they have visited, including Tresco Abbey Gardens in the Isles of Scilly, where Carolyn describes how she almost lost Derek to a rogue wave while he was photographing wildflowers on a clifftop; and also Magnolia Plantation, near Charleston, South Carolina where the couple had encounters with alligators. The special guest is Myron Kressman,a truck farmer who also runs a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program whereby homeowners can pay for the privilege of receiving garden-fresh produce year-round. Myron also discusses how to store root crops such as beets, carrots and parsnips and the importance of conducting a soil test in order to obtain best results from growing vegetables. The show concludes with Derek answering emails, including how to make leaf mold, the finest of all soil conditioners.
