Dr. Mayer’s guest is Sgt. Rich Whitney, ret. Of the Chicago Police Department. Sarge has decades of experience on the front lines of intervening with teens in trouble. Dr. Mayer and Sarge discuss the moments and situations that teens encounter that are not readily known to the general public. These volatile situations need to be publicized so we (adult community) can step in and help police efforts and defusing violence in teens. Also of note, Sarge mentions an article from the Chicago Tribune that describes teens who made it out of dangerous neighborhoods and what it is like to return home from college for summer break.
