This is a 4 part series dedicated to dental toxicity and the dangers surrounding ingesting heavy toxic metals through the oral cavity. Dr. Char, who has spent nearly an entire career on the topic of educating other dentists on using biocompatible filling material versus amalgams (heavy metals), discusses his experiences on protecting his patients with engineer Adrian Chang.
Mr. Chang is a certified nuclear engineer who has worked for the U.S. Government on both military and civilian projects – many involving safeguarding personnel against ambient chemical toxins and radioactive emissions. He discusses with Dr. Char on how toxic metals, like cadmium and mercury, interact with each other in the mouth when exposed to saliva. He then discusses the curious phenomenon where the U.S. Military requires the use of specialized Hazmat/NBC/Biohazard teams to clean up a shattered mercury thermometer, yet still dentists worldwide continue to use mercury fillings in the mouths of their patients to this day.
Dr. Char also stresses the importance of using biocompatible materials, like resins and porcelains, as a safer alternative to heavy toxic fillings, and also how many Americans are exposed to heavy metals daily even without having amalgam fillings.
