In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt discusses how Uber
is changing the way in which we travel. Uber allows people to order a car for pick up
using the Uber app that is available on their smartphone. Just like a traditional taxi, the
customer tells the driver their destination and then proceeds. Here is where it gets
interesting. No money is exchanged with the driver. Instead, the passenger inputs their
credit card information into the Uber app which charges them after they arrive at their
destination. The passenger can also rate their experience with their driver using a star
system. One star rates as a poor experience, while five stars rates as an excellent one.
Gone are the days when you had to call a taxi service and ask for a car to come pick you
up. Users now have total control and can order an Uber no matter where they are by
simply hitting a few buttons on their phone. Uber is a truly remarkable service that
represents where technology of the 21st century is headed.
