When a loved one transitions into a nursing home, especially into a secured Dementia setting, we have our perceptions, expectations and in truth, fear as to what this experience will be for us and our loved one.  This week’s guest, Charles Schoenfeld, author of the book “A Funny Thing Happened on My Way to the Dementia Ward: Memoir of a Male CNA” and I discuss his transition from son/caregiver to nurse’s aide.  We explore common misconceptions about Dementia, those who have it, and the staff who care for them, and how these misconceptions do not accurately represent the reality for patients and professional caregivers.
