A Sack Full of Blood

Michael Lee King is the author of several books, The Greatest Mystery Ever Revealed: The Mystery of The Will of God (Book 1): The Image of God. The Greatest Mystery Ever Revealed: The Mystery of The Will of God (Book 2): Growing In Grace. The Greatest Mystery Ever Revealed: The Mystery of The Will of God (Book 3): The Obedience of Faith. The fourth book in the series The Mystery of Satan is due out shortly. For the purpose of this podcast though, we’re going to be talking to Michael about his book A Sack Full of Blood.

Bishop King was named after the Archangel Michael, one of the four archangels. Michael is the archangel deemed to be the chief of the angels and archangels and responsible for the care of Israel. The world’s great religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam refer to Michael as an archangel, so to be named after the archangel must be a great privilege in Michael Lee King’s eyes and those around him. Michael graduated in 1982 with a degree in Music Education from North Carolina Central University, in 1986 he further graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree with honours from North Carolina University School of Law, Durham, North Carolina. The rigorous Pentecostal training he undertook to perfect his preaching’s was closely mentored by Elder Ivey L.Cowan, Elder C.F. Jones Jackson and Dr Gregg Singer. As a bishop in the Emmanuel Churches worldwide, he has executed immeasurable evangelism and missionary work in South Africa, Alabama in the U.S. as well as other developing nations. Publishing his books Bishop King’s aim is to strengthen his missionary work, teachings, that he has carried out around the world especially for those that hunger and thirst after the Word of God.

Michael is the third child of two preachers, Annie Lee and Nathan King Sr, he married his wife Angela in 1984 raised six children and currently has four grandchildren who both he and his wife dote on very much. Bishop King presently pastors Damascus Church of the Emmanuel Churches, performs bishopric duties for the churches founded by Bishop Leroy R. Mills in Florida USA, and works in teaching fellowship with Bishop Robert Lee Huey.Jr, Charlotte, North Carolina.

A Sack Full of Blood

A Sack Full of Blood is the chronicled recollection of happenings regarding the life of two run away twelve-year-old children Leroy Mills and Hattie Mae Caldwell. Both Leroy and Hattie dedicated their lives to the teachings of the Lord through Pentecostalism a charismatic religious movement that gave rise to several protestant churches in the United States in the 20th century.

The energy and the dynamic methods they adopted to bring about Pentecostal changes to the local communities they lived in by encouraging Christians, mainly among the black African American population who followed the more traditional religions of Baptists and Methodists to seek a post-conversion religious experience called” baptism with the Holy Spirit and Jesus,” was for me simply breath-taking.

For Hattie as a black woman not only did she have to comply with the Jim Crow Laws of segregation that existed at the time but equally she had to deal with the all-male dominated hierarchy that prevailed among the more traditional churches. It was Hattie’s unflinching domineering characteristics that brought about the changes with regards to women’s standing within the religious communities of America’s south, predominately in the locations she vociferously worked and lived in.

Life for Hattie was hard as she faced many uphill battles on numerous fronts to achieve her goals, but that in dominate spirit that was at the very core of her inner soul saw her through the toughest of times she faced in her life until her death from cancer in 1964 at the age of 61. One gutsy woman you might say who didn’t mind who she rubbed the wrong way as she fervently pursed what she perceived to be the Lord’s calling to her. Leroy and all the other characters in the book had it tough, but not quite as tough as Hattie.

The writings in this extremely well written book are based on the true lives of Michael Lee King’s close family, past and present as well as friends.
