The Author
Peter Massam is a British author who lives in a stunning part of the United Kingdom, Witney. Witney is a market town on the river Windrush sitting in the idyllic Cotswolds close to the City of Oxford which is worldly renowned for the University of Oxford.
Peter’s childhood days were filled with fun. For, coming from a large family with twenty-seven cousins nearby to keep him well occupied, life was adventurous and could never be described as boring. The stories from those halcyon days are often retold at family reunions as they should be.
For Peter working life brought many varied opportunities. He taught for ten years, a period in his life that he thoroughly enjoyed as he broadened young minds. The Business world eventually beckoned, and he pursued different avenues to broaden his own mind thus gaining valuable experiences which have stood him in good stead over the years.
As an author Peter, between 2019 and 2021 published two collections in Poetry before moving on to write the ‘Learning Experience Trilogy.’ It is this trilogy that we will be looking at over the course of two Podcast interviews.

Quirky Story
Six people set off along a U-shaped valley, past giant groundsel and lobelia. Fog descends, light failing, tin hut refuge nowhere in sight. Up rocky slope I clamber to discover a corrie lake with hut on its shoreline. Everybody else hunkers down in sleeping bags leaving me to cook. Washing up in the ice-cold water, I looked up. Sky clears to reveal Halley’s Comet streaking above Mt Kenya’s peak.
The Books
Nipper
This is the first book in the trilogy, and we are introduced to George the main protagonist throughout the series. The story starts off in the sanctuary of a frugal but loving homestead. For George, his carefree and simple lifestyle is about to change, his days at the local primary school are ending, ‘big school’ is beckoning, and for George like any child that’s a daunting prospect with all the new experiences heading his way, particularly girls young and old. George’s first trip on the school bus to secondary school was an eye-opening encounter that left an indelible mark on him, a mark he carried with him for a considerable period. The storyline in this first book is all about one boy’s view of life being turned upside down and how he started to conquer his fears particularly with how to handle the opposite sex, something all boys of George’s age must face.
Moose Conquering Fear
The second book in the series, here we find George has moved on in life, he’s about to leave education and transgress to a working life and relationships. Both scenarios for George carry their own fears, does he opt for what he sees as the safer route or again does he conquer his anxieties. For George life is and probably will be all about facing up to his instabilities like most people have to. In this book we see George facing up to life’s upsets, the ill-judged decisions he’s made and the fact he doesn’t appear to learn from his past, both in his personal and business life. I think so many of us can relate to George here especially men, a woman, however, might have a different viewpoint here. Is there a happy ending for George, well that is for me to stay stum and you the readers to find out.
Know Your Mind
This is the third book in the trilogy which has only just come out. This book will be featured in another interview on Talking Books Show in April 2023. But to whet your appetite regarding this final book in this amazing trilogy I’m prepared to give you a sneak preview as to what is about to be revealed.
This third and final chapter in the trilogy moves on from talking about growing pains from childhood and teenage years through to adulthood all courtesy of George facing fears to exploring the remarkable relationship that exists between the mind and the body and how those correlations climax in a new philosophical viewpoint.
What began as a collection of thoughts is simply breath-taking. We are all aware that we have five senses, but when these senses are subdued to allow a sixth sense to evolve; well, that’s a game- changing occurrence, and that’s what lies in wait between the pages of Peter Massams’ third book. As I say it’s a real game-changer like the last book of a trilogy should be.
