The vast territories of North America offered many claims to the land. The native Americans who inhabited the country had little use for land titles or boundaries. Their claims were made at the edge of a tomahawk. But the English and the French Kings had a different understanding and they freely made claims with titles and boundaries. Not surprisingly conflict was inevitable and when the interests of the Six Nations of the Iroquois collided with that of the French and English over the same territories, the hostilities ignited the French and Indian war in North America that became the very first World War.
