In this week’s episode, Making Flex Work with Wendy Cocke, Wendy shares with Gina how her childhood came full circle after achieving much success in her career.
While growing up, Wendy’s parents decided to think outside of the box in order to bring in an extra income. This decision would provide many benefits beyond the money. It would prove to benefit their children, their children’s friends, and much more.
Wendy’s mother decided to combine her talents with her husband’s knowledge to create a business she could run while remaining at home, raising her family, and caring for all the inner-workings of their home. You could say her mother was a trailblazer for what was to follow for other families.
Being young, Wendy didn’t know any better. She figured all moms did as hers. It wasn’t till she grew older that she realized her experience was unique.
As a high-achiever, Wendy went through life doing all the “right” things. Checking off all the boxes while working for Fortune 500 companies. She had achieved success. Or did she?!
Big businesses often times go through changes and during one of them Wendy lost her high-paying job. This set her into what Gina calls “911 mode.” Wendy quickly set out to replace her income and continue her career. But her husband saw it differently. He saw possibilities that she didn’t.
Listen in and hear how Wendy was able to find flexibility during this time in her life. And how she made it work for her, her husband, and their family. Wendy is now the author of “Making Flex Work: Defining Success on Your Own Terms.” She has redefined success for herself according to her values. Wendy shares her four keys to bring success in balancing your career and life.
