In this episode I discuss a conceptual framework for thinking about and optimizing your potential. My thinking was sparked by Adam Grant’s new book Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things. Based on research, he posits that growth is not so much about the talent or genius you possess, but the character you develop to advance that talent. The lesson for me, and what I attempt to communicate with the conceptual framework, is that to realize your potential with regard to any particular talent you possess, you not only need to continually acquire and apply knowledge and skill, but you need to also develop and apply character skills to catalyze and truly develop your potential in using that talent in the real world.
