The Author

Theresa Fochtman is from Cheney a small farming community near Spokane in Washington State in the USA. For most of her life she has had to face challenging medical issues many of those circumvent around her diagnosis of Gastroparesis. What is Gastroparesis also known as delayed gastric emptying or gastric stasis?  It’s a chronic medical condition that causes the stomach to empty its contents more slowly than normal and sometimes a solid mass called a Bezoar develops. It’s a debilitating condition that can have a huge impact on a person’s mental health along with well-being. At times it has governed, consumed not only Theresa’s life but those close to her like her husband and daughter. Theresa has been treated for various gastrointestinal concerns over the years like Gastroparesis, Chron’s Disease, IBS and GI motility matters, had numerous surgical operations to correct her medical condition some successful, some not and some reversed. The outcome has made Theresa a more determined person, her focus in life now is in supporting others who find themselves in similar circumstances and situations that she has had to adjust to. So, let’s turn to her book to see what culinary pleasures await us.

The Book

Her book is a recipe book of delicious meals she has created to enhance the lives of people with gastrointestinal issues particularly those who have an aversion to fruits and vegetables, but equally the book contains a selection of recipes for all to try and create not just those with gastrointestinal issues.

The book is a collection of thirty delicious recipes. In this podcast we’re going to focus on eight of Theresa’s culinary delights to give you a sneak insight as to what you can expect from the book, and those meals are listed below.
