Over 7 % of the U.S. population suffers from diabetes, and 6.2 million people who have the disease don’t realize that they have it. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) health care providers are finding more and more children with type 2 diabetes, a disease usually diagnosed in adults over age 40 – no longer referred to as “adult onset diabetes.” Our top 3 killers are heart disease, cancer & alcoholism. Exercise has been proven to be a serious preventative aid in all 3 of our top killers. It is extremely important in recovery from all 3 as well. My wish – more health care professionals would really write out prescriptions for exercise. We are all busy. There are hundreds of creative ways we can integrate exercise into our busy lifestyles. Exercise is NOT a frivolity – it is as crucial to our being as eating and breathing.
