Prevention is always the very best medicine. Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy in American men and the second leading cause of deaths from cancer, after lung cancer. According to the American Cancer Society’s most recent estimates, 192,280 new cases of prostate cancer would be diagnosed in 2009 and 27,360 would die from the disease. Although inherited factors are important in some prostate cancers – the overwhelming majority are related to lifestyle factors – diet is key. This belief is supported when researchers look at the variation in incidence from country to country. The good news here is….we are not helpless, there is much we can do to lower our risk of prostate cancer. The concept of nutraceuticals is food that provides health and medical benefits including the prevention and treatment of disease. Dr. Trottier will share with us the current research on prevention of prostate cancer with nutraceuticals.
