Piracy on the high seas… Something we heard a lot about a while back but in recent months has got pushed to the back of our minds and out of the main stream headlines. This episode is both an interesting story of one company’s evolution into the market and an educational discussion on the challenges of providing these services abroad.

Industry reacted quickly and security professionals started to focus attention on modern day piracy. Anti-piracy is evolving rapidly as another highly skilled niche within the already robust security industry as a whole. Fighting modern day piracy is a serious complicated business that security professionals are being faced with. Lack of jurisdiction, loose rules of engagement, and so far little vetting makes the niche a scramble for service providers and a head scratcher for clients.

Hear what one good company is doing and how they jumped into the market space with both feet and carved out a space for themselves. I have been looking forward to this discussion and hope to learn a little more from my special guest… who knows I might submit my resume by the end of the episode!

My special guest is Brad Robinson, a founding member of The Millennium Group and they now have a dedicated division focused on Anti-Piracy Services & Training.
Recruited out of graduate school, Brad Robinson spent eleven years in the CIA’s elite Directorate of Operations as a specialist in intelligence collection, counterterrorism and sensitive source recruitment. He acquired extensive area knowledge, linguistic skills and experience working undercover as a top clandestine operative and in dealing overtly with the highest levels of U.S. and foreign governments, military organizations and the private sector. Recipient of a number of CIA awards and commendations, Robinson was home-based in various European capitals but has been involved in highly-classified operations on nearly every continent. He left The Agency to form The Millennium Group, a full-service investigative and security consulting firm that has recently added a separate division, Yacht & Maritime Security, which specializes in on-board yacht and maritime security services and related training.
