Being in Sales and Sales Management for over four decades, I have seen all the good, the bad, and the ugly regarding leadership skills.
At times during this time frame, I have been pleased, but I have been mostly horrified at what Sales Managers deem motivational coaching versus punitive.
Many years ago, when I was learning and growing my sales skills, I had what I would call a sales manager who did everything wrong. I mostly learned what not to do and felt like I came up the ranks struggling most of the time versus feeling confident.
Since I started my business two decades ago, there has been a movement to change the sales paradigm to a more service-oriented, loving, caring, and respectful communication exchange. I have also noticed that it all starts at the leadership level.
